Dedicated Fixture for Removing Sprues from Injection-Moulded Plastic Components

The manufacturing process of a cutting fixture begins with the design phase, where a 3D model of the fixture is created based on product requirements, functional elements are defined, and technical documentation for the production of individual components is prepared. After the design phase is completed, standard components such as guide elements, screws, springs, cutting elements and other standardized parts required for proper fixture operation are ordered.

In the next phase, custom-made components are manufactured using CNC milling and other machining processes to ensure the required geometry, dimensional accuracy and surface quality. After all components are completed, the fixture assembly process follows, where individual parts are assembled, adjusted and their correct operation is verified.

The final phase includes testing of the cutting fixture under real production conditions, where cutting quality, process repeatability and functionality are evaluated. If necessary, optimizations and adjustments are performed before the fixture is released for production use.

Project steps:

1. Requirement analysis and design

  • review of the product and process requirements,
  • selection of the cutting concept,
  • creation of the 3D model,
  • preparation of assembly drawings and bill of materials.

2. Ordering of materials and standard components

  • selection of suitable materials,
  • ordering of standard components (guide elements, cylinders, fastening elements, cutting blades, etc.),
  • preparation of material for manufacturing.

3. Manufacturing of custom components

  • preparation of CAM programs,
  • CNC milling,
  • drilling, grinding and additional machining operations,
  • inspection of manufactured component dimensions.

4. Assembly of the cutting fixture

  • assembly of all components,
  • adjustment of moving elements,
  • alignment of cutting blades,
  • verification of mechanical operation.

5. Testing and optimization

  • performing test cuts,
  • inspection of product quality,
  • elimination of errors and implementation of adjustments,

final approval of the fixture for production.
